Slight wear to long front edge, creases at bottom front and back tips, worn at top back bookfold edge. Poor--reading copy.

Hardcover in Dust Jacket. Condition: Very Good. This book is hard-bound in color, pictorially printed paper covered boards with a gray cloth spine, in a price-clipped dust jacket with edge-wear and wear/chipping to the corners and spine-ends. The covers show light rubbing to the edges and corners. The binding is solid. The contents are bright and clean with illustrations.

Hardcover. Condition: Collectable, good. 1st. VG book in poor jacket, first printing. Very large hardcover, illustrated paper covered boards, orange fabric spine, illustrated endpapers, stated first edition with "4-1" and "A-Q" codes, jacket has same illustration, not price-clipped. CONDITION: Book exterior very nice except the paper on the most of the outer edge of front cover and about an inch of the lower edge of both covers is worn through, name in ink on title page, large pancil name on prior page won't completely erase, interior otherwise like new. Jacket has some edgewear including 1" chip missing at base of spine plus the front flap is separated from the rest of the jacket and the upper two inches of the rear flap is worn through, apparently due to the same heavy rubbing that damaged the outer edge of the book cover (some of the edge of the flaps is missing, so repair would require more than simply taping the flap to the rest of the jacket.). Overall, rather nice book in not so nice jacket. Pictorial boards. Condition: Near Fine. C.H. DeWitt (illustrator). First Edition. A very sharp copy of the 1943 stated 1st edition. Clean and Near Fine in its pictorial boards. And in a crisp, price-clipped, VG+ dustjacket, with one chip (roughly the size of a nickel) at the front panel's lower-edge, very light chipping to the spine crown and one tiny closed tear at the rear panel's upper-edge. Still though, a very presentable, markedly above-average copy. Square quarto, beautifully illustrated in color and black-and-white lithographs by C.H. DeWitt.
