Alla luce di queste nuove intuizioni andò rivedendo i suoi stessi lavori giovanili e, soprattutto, preparandone moltissimi di nuovi dedicati alle Prealpi Lombarde, dal Verbano al Benaco per i quali spese un capitale di tempo, di fatiche e di denaro in viaggi continui.
