Notation Melody Harmony Rhythm By Dr. Callcott, Third Edition, James Loring, Boston, 1833, 263 pp plus index, quarter leather, 6.25 x 4.5", 18mo. In good condition. Light wear to extremities with modest soiling and rubbing to surface of orange boards. Front joint splitting from use. Abraded spine with light creasing and minimal crushing to head and tail. End papers lightly torn at top gutter. Light toning throughout with minimal foxing. Free of known markings or ownership. Binding tight and intact. Please see photos. Calcott (1766-1821) was one of England's most celebrated composer of songs and vocal harmonies; and, through this text, a great teacher of the principles of musical notation, melody, harmony and rhythm. This 1806 text was probably first published in the U.S. around 1810.
