Soft cover. Condition: Fair. Plain blue wraps, octavo, pp. 80 plus pp. [4] index. Various resolves, including a payment of $125 to a poor soul "in consequence of losing his right hand, while doing military duty" (34); likewise, $50 to Jeduthan Stevens, Jr., "in consequence of losing a left thumb, by the splitting of a gun . . . ." (42); additional payments authorized for, among other things, prosecution of "bank bill" counterfeiters; clothing paupers, burying a stranger, &c. Interesting to see the names of Counties (Kennebeck [sic], York, Hancock, e.g.) that would become Maine in 1820 included here in the Commonwealth. Age and handling wear. Some leaves with chipping to top edges from what must have been the clumsy application of a page opening implement. Pages 50/51 unopened at top edge. Light foxing. Withal, a still sound and serviceable ensample of this uncommon title.

Faith Under Fire: How Christianity Can Survive in a Secular World is a bold, timely book for Christians who feel the cultural heat pressing in.In an age of rising secularism, cancel culture, and moral confusion, many believers are tempted to retreat in silence. But Christianity is not fragile-it has survived Rome, revolutions, and relentless persecution. The question is not whether faith can survive, but whether we will remain faithful.Christian author and speaker Caleb Strong equips readers with biblical wisdom, historical perspective, and practical strategies to live courageously as disciples of Christ in a hostile age. This powerful Christian living book explores: How America is drifting from its Christian foundations Why secularism is not neutral but a counterfeit faith What the Bible and church history teach about enduring trials How parents can guard the next generation from cultural lies Why strong families and communities are essential to preserving truth Practical ways to live boldly, speak truth, and shine light in the darknessWhether you are a parent, student, pastor, or everyday believer, Faith Under Fire will inspire you to anchor yourself in God's Word, strengthen your home, and stand with courage in today's culture war.If you long to live faithfully and pass down unshakable truth to the next generation, this book is your battle plan. This intriguing collection gathers speeches and official papers from Caleb Strong, former governor of Massachusetts, serving from 1800 to 1807â"a period when the young republic navigated complex international relations whilst seeking to forge a national identity. The writings in this volume provide firsthand insights into the political discourse and challenges of a pivotal era in American history. Strong's speeches, delivered before the state legislature, reveal both his vision for Massachusetts and his deep understanding of the nation's political landscape. Through his words, we witness the debates surrounding neutrality amid the Napoleonic Wars, the tensions between federal and state authority, and the ongoing struggle to balance individual liberty with the need for a stable and just society. Beyond their historical value, these speeches showcase Strong's eloquence and his commitment to the principles of republicanism. He advocates for education, morality, and the importance of a virtuous citizenryâ"ideals that continue to resonate in contemporary political discourse. This collection offers a unique glimpse into the formative years of the United States, making it an invaluable resource for historians, political scientists, and anyone interested in the foundations of American democracy. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
