Researchers from the universities of Nebraska (USA), Babes-Bolyai (Romania), Léon, Cádiz and Jaén (Spain), and the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales of Spain (CSIC), among other institutions, present various research projects, such as the use of beta diversity to assess changes in a lake ecosystem; the study of helophytic vegetation in Mediterranean wetlands; the role of macroinvertebrate communities as bioindicators in Mediterranean river ecosystems; the impact of olive grove uprooting on archaeological sites; teralogies in diatoms from waters contaminated by acid mine drainage; and viruses transmitted by tick bites.
