Sandy Cameron (1931-2010) was a poet and teacher in public schools, literacy and upgrading programs, prisons, and universities. He specialized in First Nations education and later became the historian of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside community, For years, his only possessions were what he could haul around in his old pick up truck. Sandy wrote several books of poetry and hundreds of articles about class, social justice and the people he met, mostly for the Carnegie Newsletter. When he died the poster on the notice board at the Carnegie Centre called him, the "conscience of the community". - adapted from an online tribute page published by Jean Swanson.

Catalyst was first produced in Gravenhurst in 1974 & won the Award of Merit for Achievement in Script at the Georgian Bay Drama Festival that year. Cameron is a playwright, theatre director, drama teacher & writer who teaches at Sheridan College's Theatre and Drama Studies, associated with the University of Toronto.
