Many of the personal items of the time are of historical interest; some are merely unusual or beautiful. The book covers a wealth of material ranging from the small objects which decorated the dressing table, to the cumbersome compendiums which accompanied travellers on their various journey and excursions. It describes the personal accessories which were essential for one to appear well-groomed, as well as those used for practial purposes such as writing equipment and needlecases. To complement the author's entertaining text, this delightful book is illustrated throughout with black and white drawings.
