Edición original de este curioso (?) tratado de "economía política". El autor expone su concepto de la Economía política: "[.] la gran ley del trabajo es ineludible y debe conocerse en sus diferentes manifestaciones para aplicarse a los diversos casos a que se presta, pues no puede violarse sin quebrantar los intereses más vitales del hombre; [.] Y para lograr un bien tan inefable son elementos seguros el Trabajo y la Religión [.] Vamos, pues, a tratar de definir con alguna claridad y precisión, la ciencia económica tal como la concebimos [.]". Juan Cancio Mena Irurzun ( Pamplona 1834 - 1916) Abogado y catedrático de economia política. De ideología carlista, fue secretario de la Diputación Foral desde 1865 hasta su renuncia en 1869. Secretario de la Junta Provincial de la Asociación de Católicos de Navarra (1870), fue miembro dela Real Junta Gubernativa de Navarra (1873). Escritor prolífico, su prosa es ampulosa, redundante y de conceptos con frecuencia imprecisos, pero debe ser tenido en cuenta para el conocimiento del pensamiento conservador y fuerista de finales del siglo XIX. Fundó (1870) con Julio Nombela "El País Vasco-Navarro", semanario impreso en Madrid con el lema "Jaungoikoa eta Foruak". 400 páginas. Encuadernación original de la época en holandesa piel.
