A first-person account of events in Arizona during the 1850s tells of James Tevis's travels with Kit Carson's brother Mose, his participation in the Indian wars with the soldiers of Fort Buchanan, and his survival of capture and torture by the renowned Apache chief Cochise. paperback. Condition: Very Good. Originally published as a softcover, this copy has been rebound as a hardcover. Minor overall wear. Scarce WWII unit history. Dark blue cloth boards. Clean, has a good binding, no marks or notations to the text. When being rebound a couple of extra pages were bound in with the text pertaining to unit member P.F.C. Ray Jackson including a typed letter signed by him and an official letter dated 14 August 1945 giving Jackson the authority to wear the Bronze Service Arrowhead for participating in the Assault Landing on Normandy Beachhead. The dedication page has been filled out by a relative of P.F.C. Jackson. Previous owner info scribbled out inside on the front pastedown. (tnos).
