Stained covers, internal age-toning and creasing/marks, grubbiness. Pages chipped at the bottom edge, a poor, reading copy only. Rare, probably self-published, with a prologue by 'an incapacitated sailor', whom we learn was 'coxswain of a pinnace that helped to land the troops' at Gallipoli. The verses are written with all seriousness, but sadly without anything remotely resembling talent. The effect is somewhat of an Australian 'McGonagall', the rhymes are risibly banal, the metre stretched almost to breaking point. One really shouldn't laugh at the effusions of an old, invalid sailor, but.
