Edited by 'Captain Prout', this is the first edition of a hugely entertaining novel about 'luckless reporter' Bob Norberry, and his travels through Ireland.Collated, illust…rated with an engraved title page and frontispiece, and eight further engraved plates. Lacking eight plates.These plates are the work of Irish artist Henry Macmanus, the illustrator of such works as Hall's 'Ireland', and Carleton's 'Traits and Stories of the Irish Peasants'.With an armorial bookplate to the front pastedown, and the inscription of Marianne Mahoney, 1962, to the front free endpaper. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to spine head and tail, with fading and minor closed tears to cloth of spine. Boards bright. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Bookplate to front pastedown, and inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age toned to perimeters, with instances of light spotting throughout.
