Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Publisher - John Murray, London, 1918. 1st ed. First edition. Tanned endpapers, previous owner's name in ink to half-title page, another in pencil to ffep. Green cloth with black lettering, xxiv, 219 pages, plus adverts. Illustrated with photographs on plates and a folding map of German East Africa at the end of the book (in fine condition). Externally the boards are rubbed and soiled, the spine is missing but the hinges are sound. Corners bumped and rather frayed, lower edge also beginning to fray. However internally this collection of essays on many aspects of war during General Smuts' campaign in 1916 in East Africa during the first world war is still very good, with tight binding and unmarked pages.
