The memoirs of his life as a soldier in France, Gallipoli, Egypt, Palestine and Poland, of post war reconstruction including the great strikes of 21 and 26, and then as a sporting journalist and the mysteries of a microphone. Owner's inscription dated 1947 otherwise clean interior and covers with all pages tight in binding, covers clean and unscuffed. Dustjacket has seen better days, has a large tear to front (taped at rear side) and a few chinks missing at spine top.

Original green cloth, backstrip title and front cover vignette in gilt. Backstrip sunned to tan, though lettering reasonably clear, and a little rubbed at foot. Covers patchily faded, upper outer corners a little curled. No dust jacket. Edges of text-block moderately toned, lower edge with cluster of little bruises/indentations close to backstrip. Contents here & there lightly & sparsely spotted, otherwise clean and tight. Fairly GOOD copy.
