Seines Amtes seit 1858 müde geworden, befürwortete Nestroy Treumann als Nachfolger des von ihm seit Karl Carls Tod 1854 geführten Hauses. "Es kam aber anders. Treumann übernahm nicht das Carl-Theater, sondern das Theater am Franz Josef-Quai, das nicht lange bestand; 1863 fiel es einem Brand zum Opfer" (Basil, Nestroy. Rowohlts Monographien132. Reinbek b.
