Now his children and grandchildren are helping to operate the thriving farm and grain elevator business. He shares his memories of Rochelle, farming, and family in this finely detailed account of his life, beginning with his grandfather's journey to Rochelle on an orphan train prior to the Civil War, and bringing readers up to the present time." Carmichael died in 2011, but the farm, grain elevators, and trucking businesses continue to thrive in west central Illinois.
