A handwritten and signed letter by the novelist and poet Caroline Clive, referring to her novel 'Paul Ferroll'. C1850 'My dear Miss Senior, Thanks for the extraordinary form which you sent me, and for which I have already a companion on occasion of the death of one of the de Croisman family. We shall not be in London till 4 or 5 tomorrow, and tea dinner and calls are alike impossible for me; for though I am considerably better you would think to see me I could scarcely be worse and would agree that I must not think of anything but my own house at present. My husband is gone to Canterbury and we shall meet in Grosvenor Square tomorrow, therefore I cannot answer for his engagements but if we are not off on Tuesday, I can conceive no course which would not make him and Alice delighted to dine with you on that day. I am very sorry to hear you have had a cold; your approbation of Paul Terroll gives me great pleasure. I hear that the publisher and Mr Mudie have quarrelled over it and accordingly it does not appear in his Catalogue of Interesting Works. Ever yours sincerely, C. Clive' Caroline Clive 1801-1873 was an English writer.
