Good, sewn, in chipped tan wrapper. Sig. clipped from title-page. [4], 75 p.; 21.5 cm. Contents -- I Charge made by the Rev. C. E. Douglas against the Rev. H. D. A. Major -- II Reply of the Rev. H. D. A. Major in answer to the church -- III The Bishop of Oxford's decision -- Appendices IV-VI: opinions of A. C. (Arthur Cayley) Headlam, W. (Walter) Lock, E. W. () Watson. -- From the Bishop's decision: `My dear Mr. Douglas, I have examined very carefully the statement submitted to me by Mr. Major in reply to the accusation made against him "(1) of openly teaching Doctrine concerning the Resurrection of the Body which is contrary to the Christian religion as set forth in the ancient Creeds, contained in the Book of Common {Prayer, and in Holy Scriptures, (2) of importing the teaching of a heathen mystic (Gautama) into the Christian religion without warrant of reason or observed fact." . In regard to the charge (2) of importing the teaching of a heathen mystic (Gautama) into the Christian religion I accept Mr. Major's emphatic denial. As the charge is not supported by any material evidence I cannot find any basis for a charge of heresy on this count. In regard to (1) I accept the opinions submitted to me by the Professors and I decide to take no further steps in the way of formal inquisition. I am satisfied that Mr. Major's teaching does not conflict with what Holy Scripture reveals to us of the Resurrection of the Body. I do not find that Mr. Major denies the doctrine of the Resurrection of the Body: in fact he positively asserts his belief in "the full survival of all that constitutes, whatever is essential to human personality, in short all that is meant by personal identity."'. Binding is Paperbound.

It details the unique culture and socioeconomic idiosyncrasies of the Yucatecan people, and how these have been shaped by the region's geography and historical experience. The author delves into topics such as the rise and fall of the ancient Maya civilization, the Spanish conquest, and the state's role in modern-day Mexico. The text is richly illustrated with maps and photographs of the region's major archaeological sites and historical monuments. Through the lens of Yucatan, the author examines broader themes such as the nature of cultural identity, the impact of colonialism, and the challenges of economic development in the present day. This book offers a comprehensive and engaging account of a fascinating region and its people. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition, Limited Edition. Exceptionally Rare First Edition ? Fewer than 15 Known Copies Worldwide. Step into the early 20th century with this exceptionally scarce photographic and historical record of the Yucatán Peninsula, published in 1911 by Henry A. Case in Mérida, Mexico. This remarkable volume, Views on and of Yucatán, captures the region's cultural and archaeological splendor just before the Mexican Revolution. Printed locally in Mérida and issued in extremely limited numbers, scholars estimate that fewer than 15 complete copies survive worldwide. Many reside in museum or university archives, rarely appearing on the open market. About the Work: Henry A. Case, a longtime resident of the Yucatán Peninsula, compiled this rare work to document the land, people, and ruins of Yucatán, Campeche, and Quintana Roo. The volume features original photographic plates depicting Mayan ruins, colonial architecture, and everyday life, including detailed studies of Acanceh, Ake, and other historic sites. Included is a striking portrait of Governor Don Enrique Muñoz Arístegui, reflecting the region's political and cultural landscape in the early 1900s. Book Details: Title: Views on and of Yucatán Author/Publisher: Henry A.
