Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Engaging journal of this Catholic priest who was chaplain for the 14th Louisiana in the Army of Northern Virginia during the American Civil War. Gray cloth with blue spine title and embossed image of Confederate belt buckle on front board. Moderate wear to head and base of spine and corners. Foxing to exterior page edges, mainly concentrated on upper and fore-edge pages. Binding firm. Contents clean and very good with black and white frontispiece photograph of author, and sepia photographs within text. Color pictorial dust jacket with moderate to heavy edgewear and fading to spine.
