Dans la préface, l'auteur fait référence à une décision du Bailli d'épée du baillage de Caudebec (Monsieur de Bailleul) qui a ordonné "suppression et lacération" de son ouvrage. L'action de ce…tte farce satyrique se passe dans une auberge de Caudebec où sont descendus les députés et les personnages sont le Bailli, le Président de l'Election, le Président du Grenier à sel, un Consul des marchands, deux avocats, etc. Cette plaquette a été reprise dans l'ouvrage de Claude Ferron sur la Révolution à Dieppe.
