Add to basketComplete, with 36 lead figures, 12 stiff card icebergs and landscapes, with 3 colour lithographed background views, arranged on 3 shelves in original box, upper cover with original printed label, lid worn with small loss to one corner, box 400 x 460 x 90 mm. A previous owner has fixed some of the characters in place with cotton, some now loose, one spear detached from the character, but present. A complete lead toy diorama in original box, depicting an expedition to the Arctic, the 36 lead figures set against a dramatic icy landscape. The figures include: Canoes (2, one with single figure, one with 2 figures of which one holding harpoon and rope); "Esquimo" with spear, his igloo, dog and two poles with a line of drying fish; 5 single explorers (one with axe, 2 with guns, 2 with poles); a large whale; a pack of 3 dogs hauling a sledge; a polar bear; a French flag; seals (3, one swimming); large tent; birds (9, including 4 penguins, cormorant, and 4 seagulls), oddments (4, including luggage, fire and fauna). A later version bears an American flag, probably to celebrate Robert Peary's claim to have reached the North Pole in 1908/9.…
