paperback. Condition: Very Good. Most of our very good books have only minor imperfections such as shelf wear consistent with a new book that's sat on a bookshop shelf for a year or two. Occasionally we may miss other minor imperfections as we have to grade books at speed. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - Operating at the intersection between feminist studies, architectural history and the commons discourse, this book aims to enrich the latter as a radical theory and practice for conceptualizing non-hierarchical forms of collective living. Studying the emergence of a new woman in the context of the First Womens Movement and the formation of the German Werkbund in the early Weimar Republic, the research investigates two instances in the 1910s, when feminist struggles devised radical architectural practices for the social and spatial ordering of housing that accommodated feminist claims both administratively and typologically. By addressing the housing question as a feminist question, this reading evaluates the possibilities that emerge from a spatial order that caters for womens various roles beyond that of wife and child carer. In other words, it evaluates the potential of spatial orders to make new social orders and structures conceivable.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu.

Condition: Sehr gut. 1. 276 S. Gebrauchtes Exemplar in sehr gutem Zustand. KEINE Eintragungen/Markierungen. In 1973, Max Bächer, architect, university professor, juror and critic, met Albert Speer, architect, former Nazi Armaments Minister and convicted war criminal. Frederike Lausch has taken the previously unpublished record of that meeting as the starting point to analyse Max Bächers intensive study of the relationship between architecture and Fascism. From 1971 onwards, Bächer presented several lectures on the architecture of the National Socialist period, in which he also warned of the dangers of contemporary Fascist tendencies. In 1978, the dialogue with Albert Speer ended with a strongly worded condemnation by Bächer, after Speer had published his designs in an illustrated book completely lacking in self-criticism. When Speers book was again debated in the mid-1980s, Bächer called for an ideology-free culture of discourse. No Binding. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Group of internal reports, memoranda, correspondence, and advocacy material preserved by or through Dr. Thomas Brewster Manton, international-relations scholar, biographer of U Thant, and founder and leading organizer of the Committee for a New China Policy, operating from 777 United Nations Plaza, New York. The archive centers on Clergy and Laymen Concerned About Vietnam (CALCAV) and the Council for Christian Social Action (CCSA) and is notably strong in internal working material rather than public propaganda. Includes: a CALCAV regional-conference report with typescript cover letter signed in ink by Richard R. Fernandez, Director; CALCAV's five-page Local Organizing Project (November 1969), recording 31,200 members, nineteen field staff, sixty-eight affiliated groups, plans for sixteen 1970 organizing conferences, and a $28,250 national budget; Fernandez's three-page A Proposal for Local Field Staff Development by Clergy and Laymen Concerned About Vietnam (January 1970), submitted to the Joint Strategy Action Committee and documenting more than 350 committees, over 100 full- or part-time workers, a proposed twenty-one-city field network, approximately $65,000 in prior field-support gifts, and an eventual projected annual field-staff cost of $125,000; a two-page signed memorandum by John R. Kernodle Jr. to the CCSA International Relations Committee Task Force; and a five-page Youth Task Force Report, apparently the original ribbon typescript rather than a carbon, addressing imperialism, revolution, racism, militarism, corporate exploitation, youth radicalization, and the church's role in social change. Also present is a Business Executives Move for Vietnam Peace radio campaign packet with ten one-minute antiwar broadcast scripts by Rear Admiral Arnold E. True, Marriner S. Eccles, and Nobel laureate George Wald, together with Peter Barnes's The Army May Be Hazardous to Your Health; and a November 21, 1969 letter from Mankato State College professor John B. Foster to "Tom Manton" at the Church Center for the U.N., stating that CALCAV staff associate Richard Killmer had told him Manton was attempting to obtain a visa for China. That letter provides unusually strong internal evidence identifying the recipient as Thomas Brewster Manton and linking his emerging China-policy work to the progressive religious antiwar network represented here. A compact but unusually coherent working archive documenting the infrastructure of the late-1960s antiwar movement: regional expansion, grassroots organizing, professional field staffing, fundraising, youth radicalization, church activism, establishment opposition to Vietnam, and the emerging reconsideration of U.S. policy toward the People's Republic of China. Particularly strong for its recurring received stamps, retained paper clips and attachment evidence, Fernandez's signed correspondence, detailed internal CALCAV budgets and staffing plans, and an apparently ribbon-original CCSA typescript. No current commercial copies located of the principal internal CALCAV or CCSA documents. An excellent primary-source group at the intersection of CALCAV, the UCC/CCSA, the Church Center for the United Nations, Business Executives Move for Vietnam Peace, and Manton's emerging China-policy work. Varying conditions, with age and handling-related wear as expected. Additional images, information, and condition reports available upon request.
