Add to basketFirst edition. Oblong folio album with original cloth-backed blue boards and printed decoration to upper cover. A very good copy, with slight damp staining to the front panel and foxing to the plate mounts, a couple of plates affected by areas of staining, though remaining mainly bright and clear. The remainder of the plates are extremely bright and evocative. Hand-coloured lithographed title page, incorporating a view of Piazza San Marco, and twelve further hand-coloured lithographed plates heightened with gum arabic and printed by Kirchmayr or Lefevre after Cecchini, Pividor and Viola. A fine series of views of Venice by the Venetian artists Giovanni-Battista Cecchini (1804-79), Giovanni Pividor (d. 1872) and Tommaso Viola (b. c. 1810). The lithograph plates are finely printed by Léfevre each within a double blue lined border and with the delicate hand-colouring heightened with gum arabic.
