Light brown publisher's cloth with text stamped in black. Light green endpapers. 121 pp. Dust jacket rubbed with small chips and small tears along edges and folds. Smudging on rear DJ panel and a scratch on red portion of DJ cover. Jacket verso foxed with a on upper portion near spine. Boards clean and bright. Corners square. Some rippling on upper corners of pages from damp, text and images unaffected. Overall, a very good copy in like jacket. Shackelford was an educator who wrote books specifically for African American children. In this book, she uses photographs by woman photographer Cecil Vinson to document the day-to-day adventures of a Black child in Indiana in the 1940s.
