Solida legatura settecentesca in mezza pergamena con piccole punte, dorso liscio on titoli in oro su tassello. Solo una leggera gora al margine bianco delle prime carte, peraltro esemplare genuino ed in ottimo stato di conservazione. Prima edizione, molto rara, soprattutto a reperirsi completa di entrambe le parti. Fonte di primaria importanza per la storia dell'Europa Orientale (segnatamente l'Ungheria e l'odierna Romania) nel Rinascimento. E' opinione comune, suffragata dal Bongi, che il materiale storico di cui il Centorio si dichiara raccoglitore provenga invece dal Castaldo. ĞI documenti sono organizzati e poi collegati tra loro in modo da offrire un quadro di quanto avvenne in quelle circostanze e di quanto fu fatto dalle autorità; così si spiega la ristampa milanese di quest'opera fatta durante la peste del 1630-31ğ (D.B.It. XXIII, pp. 609-611). Opera importante e rara, impressa anche come vademecum per altre città europee che fossero state colpite dalla peste, fu molto apprezzata dai contemporanei.
