Assai ricco repertorio bibliografico, oper…a del bibliofilo Giuseppe Cernitori (Civitavecchia, 1749-1821). "Alcuni anni dopo il Cernitori pubblicò la "Biblioteca polemica degli scrittori che dal 1770 sino al 1793 hanno o difeso o impugnati i dogmi della Cattolica Romana Chiesa" (Roma 1793), un ampio catalogo librario nato dalla sua attività di raccoglitore di libri per lo Zaccaria e che quindi testimonia della ricchezza della biblioteca che quest'ultimo aveva costituito nella casa del Gesù. L'opera divide in due parti, ordinate alfabeticamente per autore, gli apologisti cattolici (pp. 5-177) e gli avversari della Chiesa romana (pp. 179-235), avendo come sicuro punto di riferimento il "Giornale ecclesiastico di Roma", ai cui giudizi il Cernitori rinvia il lettore ogni qualvolta ciò sia possibile; ma a differenza di questo periodico egli rivolge ampie lodi anche ai più intransigenti campioni della disciolta Compagnia [del Gesù], i cui scritti non sempre erano graditi alla Curia (come ad esempio quell'"Analisi del Concilio diocesano di Pistoia.," Assisi 1790, del gesuita J. Fuensalida, confutata dal cardinale Gerdil e condannata dalla Congregazione dell'Indice). Tra i "reprobi" figurano alla rinfusa illuministi, giurisdizionalisti, giansenisti, increduli e altri autori cattolici che, anche soltanto su singoli problemi, avevano manifestato opinioni diverse da quelle gradite a Roma" (Giuseppe Pignatelli in DBI, vol.XXIII). > Ottino / Fumagalli, 1610.
