From leaving the intimacy of my Mother's womb I wait for that same connection, I search for a sense of being and identity. Who am I? The conversations I have shared with God have been my anchor in life and where I sometimes made friends with low self-worth or abandonment, God has taught me to keep short accounts; to be honest in how I felt; to write down my pain, my muddles, my joy and my many delights. Drawing these poems together I originally called this book 'The Pearl, reflecting on how we are shaped by life's storms. I have since come to recognise that this collection is all about love and our journey into it. I have therefore called it The Kissing Gate after my poem that talks to the beauty found in attending to the gaps of life; the place where God is waiting for each of us.
