Le Roman de Renart is a cycle of mostly anonymous poems, composed from around 1170 until 1250. It appears as an animal epic or, more exactly, as a parody of the songs of gesture and the courtly novels which exalted the chivalrous society. Roman de Renart is the French version of a widespread medieval cycle of stories originating in Lorraine and known in English as Reynard the Fox. The earliest treatments in French are attributed to Pierre de Saint-Cloud in the late 12th century. Brunet IV - 1222. This is an oversized or heavy book, which requires additional postage for international delivery outside the US.
