American swimmer who set the women's record for swimming the English channel in 1950 (13 hours, 20 minutes). IPS, 8" X 11", n.p., n.y. Near fine. Reproduction on heavy stock of a superb charcoal sketch by George Loh, the classic image of Chadwick in mid-crawl crossing the Channel as well as a smiling large closeup of a young Chadwick in swim cap and goggles, boldly signed and inscribed by her in blue ballpoint in later years: "Kindest regards and / best wishes to Eirene Mowji. / Sincerely, / Florence Chadwick." This lovely portrait was originally created for an Equitable Life Assurance Society ad campaign, from which this attractive copy was made as a keepsake.
