Nicolas Chalmandrier (fl.1756-1782) fue un grabador francés que, entre otras obras, realizó importantes planos de ciudades europeas. Este plano es uno de los más importantes que se realizaron sobre Madrid.Llevado a cabo apenas iniciado el reinado de Carlos III, su diseño refleja el estado de Madrid en el período anterior con las mejoras llevadas a cabo por Felipe V y Fernando VI. En margen superior encontramos retratos de Carlos III y Carlos Antonio, Príncipe de Asturias. A los lados, sendas tablas en español y francés con descripción de los principales edificios y monumentos.
