Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. London, New York, Toronto: Oxford University Press, 1939. First edition, 1939, with a personalized inscription signed by the author on the half-title. Charming story of a baby hippopotamus who desperately wanted to be in a parade, illustrated throughout in black and white. Blue cloth, illustrated endpapers, 78 pages, illustrated dustjacket. The book has some light colored spotting to the covers, otherwise very good condition with good hinges, sound text block, unevenly age-toned endpapers, clean pages with no other names or markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is not priceclipped [1.00] and is very good with some wear to the extremities, slight darkening to the white background, essentially no paper loss. Inscribed by The Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
