This book is a historical novel that enters the world of the Royal Navy in the 18th and early 19th centuries, exploring themes of love, friendship, courage, disappointment, and what it means to live a life of service to the country. At the heart of this novel is the character Tom Bowling, a Royal Navy captain who, whilst convalescing from an illness, uncovers the possible deceit of a woman he loves, Susan, who he discovers is also corresponding with another man, Captain Cornish. The author, with a keen eye for historical accuracy, presents a vivid and authentic world of naval hierarchy, duty, and warfare, bringing to life the unique character traits of the men who served their country at sea in the age of Nelson. The novel explores the challenges of finding love and loyalty in a world of heightened emotion and adventure, and invites readers to consider the complex and often conflicting perspectives on the concept of honor. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
