A collection of religious verses for children, illustrated throughout with woodcut vignettes on nearly every page, and a large cut of a preacher at his pulpit to the rear cover. A very good copy. Size 100 x 65mm (4 x 2.5 inches ) Provenance: From the collection of the remaining stock from the Kendrew business which was inherited by a distant family member and kept in the family through descent. James Kendrew (fl. 1803-1841) was a printer and publisher of Colliergate, York, who specialized in pamphlets and children's chapbooks. In 1841 he was succeeded by his son John Lofthouse Kendrew who sold the business in 1848.
