Hardbound. Condition: Near fine. First Edition. Written following the fall of Burma to the Japanese in WWII (and presumably the exodus of the author) this series of thirteen atmospheric short stories reminisces on life in late-colonial Burma, a era now lost forever. The author, a Wesleyan Methodist missionary first posted to Burma in 1908, expresses great empathy for the people and respect for their native Buddhist beliefs. A small, rare gem. Spine tip and tail a little rubbed, gift inscription on front free end paper, otherwise clean and unmarked throughout. iii, 66 pp Size: 18 x 13 cm.
