Interior is faultless. Laid in are the dust jacket flaps. In Six Parts: 1861, 1862, 1863, 1864, 1865, and Aftermath. These parts are in turn divided into 44 sections, representing main aspects of the war. Within these sections the they are arranged by date when known. The whole constitutes a collective saga of the human side of the Civil war, its typical experiences, heroes, traditions, myths, legends, fables, foibles, images, and symbols reflecting the American imagination at work on the stuff of our most American war. Over 330 stories. Many small black and white drawing illustrations all throughout the book.
