First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Stiff teal blue wraps, lettered in black. 71 pp. Slight handling wear, nearly as issued. Frances Steloff ordered multiple copies of this title in 1948 for her Gotham Book Mart, New York City, from the inventory of which this copy emerged. Through her antiquarian shop and many literary connections, Steloff attempted to gain sympathy for Pound after his arrest and trial for treason and during his 12-year incarceration at St. Elizabeths, 1945-58; despite the poet's apparent anti-Semitism and a story circulating that Pound would not enter her "stinking" shop, Steloff vehemently defended him, as do, though not without qualifications, the writers' statements presented here. Scarce. Size: 12mo - over 6" - 7" tall. Book.

octavo hardcover in dustwrapper (ex library); all our specials have minimal description to keep listing them viable. They are at least reading copies, complete and in reasonable condition, but usually secondhand; frequently they are superior examples. Ordering more than one book will reduce your overall postage cost.
