Hardcover. Condition: Very good-. First Edition. Quarto, 263pp., plus six folding plates, as issued. Ex-library, with some of the usual markings. Bound in eminently presentable tan buckram, with gilt spine titling. Despite the few unqelcome library markings, still a wide-margined, internally clean, and very sound, sturdy, complete example (probably lacking a half-title). Overall about very good. An exploration of electricity, which makes much of Benjamin Franklin's findings, and which includes some marvelous illustrations. The most recent auction record is for a copy which lacked all of the plates; before that, the last copy we can trace at auction appeared in 1967. A wonderful volume of scientific history.
