Hard Cover. , A collection of short scripted stories about day to day life in Hollywood, from its heyday era of the late 1920's and early 30's, Discovered by movie pioneer Thomas Ince, was a wildly popular star of silent pictures typically cast as a callow country youth who overcomes his insecurities and lack of sophistication to win the heroine at the end of each picture; he was, according to a recent PBS documentary, Harold Lloyd - The Third Genius (Chaplin and Keaton the first and second), a major influence on Lloyd's development of his comic silent-screen persona. Peaking in 1920, Ray's career declined with the increasing sophistication of audiences during the Roaring 20's and his inability to adapt his image to urbane roles. Signed by Author.
