Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Charlot Byi (illustrator). This book is signed and inscribed by both the author and illustrator. The illustrator has added a cute drawing of two children standing behind the fence. The author's inscription is dated March of 1963. I've provided a photo of this page, the half-title page. It appears this title was originally published in 1935. On the title page it states 'Copyright, 1935, 1951, by June Mary Norton and Charlot Byi.' On the copyright page it says 'Third Impression.' On the front flap of the dust jacket it says 'Third Printing.' You can see the covers of the book in the photos. They are very clean. They are very good condition. There is light rubbing at the bottom edge of the spine on the bottom edges of the front and rear cover. The rent lettering on the spine is quite bright the only soiling is very thin line off parts of the covers top and bottom edges. I think this was caused by the protective cover that the previous owner had fitted on the dust jacket. I've do that cover and replaced it a new one. Beside creating this one minor imperfection on the book, the protective cover did an excellent job preserving the quality of the jacket, which is considerably better than one would expect from a book this genre. There is one very small loss off the top edge of the spine and just adjacent to that. But that appears to be the only imperfection on the jacket. It is perfectly clean. It is NOT price-clipped and the flaps are in very nice condition. Getting back to the book, it is very solidly bound although the illustrated paper on the inside covers has just very slightly lifted up in a few places by the junctures with the facing pages. I took the time to turn over all the pages they are nicely bound. There also very clean with three small exceptions, a few spots off the top and bottom edge which you can see on the signed half-title page and a similar small one off the bottom edge of the blank rear end paper. The pages are also in very nice condition. The only flaw I saw was that the paper at the top corner of the last page was cut a little long so it is folded over a little bit. One could choose to cut it evenly there. I didn't see any other creasing. See any dogeared corners. There is no soiling at all of the pages inside the text, most of which are songs with illustrations. The illustrations are terrific, very sweet. The colors are vibrant. There are no markings anywhere in this book. There are no attachments. And with the exception of the author's and illustrator's signed inscriptions, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in this book. Once listed, this will be the Only copy of this book for sale on the Internet that has both the signatures of June Norton and Charlot Byi. Inscribed by Author(s).
