hard cover. Condition: Very Good. No jacket. New York: Duffield & Co. 1929. 225 pp. Illustrated. Hardcover. Blue cloth binding is soiled on the front and rear covers and sun-faded down the spine. Interior is clean and free of stray markings, save for some faint foxing and a previous owner's signature inked on the first free end-paper. Overall, this is a very good copy.

The original letters to his fiancee by the secretary to the French Minister to the United States during the Revolution. Blue boards are faded on top and bottom edges. Spine ends bumped. Dust jacket soiled with fading on spine. Tears on most edges with some pieces missing and chipping.
