The only significant flaws are light water rippling to the top and bottom corners of the cover and pages, but still in very good condition. The Minnesota Historical Society's Pat Coleman has designated this rare book to be one of Minnesota's 150 most important books. Chase was an Anoka Republican who served one term in the Minnesota Legislature, as State Auditor and was a candidate for Governor in 1930. Coleman points out that Chase was not just rabidly anti-communist (and socialist), but also introduced anti-Semitism into Minnesota State politics, probably for the first time. Exceedingly rare in any condition. Included with this book is a copy of the original mailing envelope to a resident of Anoka and with Chase's Anoka return address.

Paperback. Condition: Good. Softcover. The cover of the Vogue, December 15, 1946 shows Ray Bolger as Santa Claus with supermodel Dorian Leigh. This specific cover made history by featuring a man on a Vogue cover for the very first time. Historically, Vogue strictly featured women. This cover departed from its aloof and highly formal past to embrace a playful, pop-culture-infused holiday spirit. And Ray Bolger, who was a highly recognizable star at the time, offered it a broad mainstream appeal for the holiday season. The photographer Irving Penn, was rapidly revolutionizing fashion photography by stripping away backgrounds in favor of stark, studio settings. Dorian Leigh is considered one of the earliest supermodels, as well as a favorite muse of Penn. She is on over 50 magazine covers during her career, and in 1946 alone, she made history by landing on no less then 6 Vogue covers. The issue is 132 pages with festive fairy-tale adaptations also shot by Penn incl Eddy Duchin, alongside society portraits and mid-century winter fashion.
