With 80 b&w plates reproducing the wash drawings and plans made by Samuel Chearnley in 1745 for various architectural garden buildings and features such as grottoes, obelisks, fountains and arches. The originals are in Birr Castle in Ireland. There are also small b&w ilustrations in the catalogue of Chearnley's work by Peter Harrison that follows. With essays by T.G. Barnard and Christine Casey as well. Very nicely printed on cream paper. A major contribution to Irish architectural studies, in Fine condition. in text and some full page plates, with detailed catalogue entires, of the works of art assembled at Glin Castle by Desmond Fitzgerald, Knight of Glin: these show great houses, landscapes, townscapes, gardens and some interiors in various parts of Ireland: Munster, Connact, Ulster, and Leinster.
