Volume autografato dall'autore. Amante della storia patria, l'avvocato Checcacci (come ricorda una lapide posta alla sx del Duomo in Firenze nel 1860) fu fra i componenti della Deputazione promotrice per il compimento della facciata della cattedrale. Solo vol. IV (su 4), ma completo per argomento, trattando sia gli avvenimenti storici che il loro contesto letterario ed artistico.
