8vo; original cream boards; pictorial dustwrapper; pp. 222; plates. Dustwrapper a little rubbed, very slightly edgeworn, and a touch sunned on spine panel; faint trace of spotting to top edge. Very good condition. Daphne Child "describes how the youth of the country fared from 1652 under differing circumstances, conditions and government. Children of Dutch, British and Voortrekker alike performed deeds revered to this day. Many became celebrated South Africans and their youthful experiences, which laid the foundation of future greatness, make interesting reading. A striking contrast is drawn between the upbringing and education of South Africa's children of yesterday and her children of modern times.".
