Hardcover. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Ghostcatching: A Virtual Dance Installation (1999) is an innovative multimedia project that merges dance, technology, and visual art. Created by choreographer Bill T. Jones in collaboration with digital artists Paul Kaiser and Shelley Eshkar, the installation was featured at The Cooper Union School of Art. The project utilized motion capture technology to digitally record Jones's movements. These recordings were then transformed into ethereal, glowing figures projected onto screens, creating a virtual dancer that interacted with the physical space. The installation aimed to explore themes of presence, absence, and the intersection of the human body with digital representation. "Ghostcatching" was groundbreaking in its integration of live performance with digital media, pushing the boundaries of how dance and technology can coexist. The installation was not only a technical achievement but also a profound artistic statement on the evolving nature of human expression in the digital age.
