Laren-Gooi, De Meng, 1924. Cloth-backed boards with title ticket. 80 p. Illustrated. Without the mimeo prospect. First edition. Boards a bit paled, but a neat, unfoxed book. A curious self-published book in Dutch, signed by writer Goudsmit and painter Beekman. Film-like scenical texts, illustrated with intriguing drawings in various styles, some modernist and some traditional. Translation of the title: 'The Guest-Storytellers. A Series of Attempts at a Somewhat Decent Cabaret in Small Quarto.' A playful book, that was used by the two penniless artists to find some money trying to sell it door-to-door. The mayor of Laren warned the people not to buy it!
