Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Hardcover with folded dust jacket. Singed and inscribed by Ware in the year of publication; since Ware is as renowned as a letterer as he is appreciated as an artist, his use of a display script for this inscription is just a little less wonderful than if there was a drawing. First printing indicated by the number lines on the title page. Condition: Book is VG; jacket a bit less fresh, with a 1/2" closed tear at one spine corner, as shown, and with some edge-wear. But the jacket, I think, can easily be replaced, if one wants. Inscribed by Author(s).

Trade Paperback. Condition: Near Fine. Chris Ware (illustrator). First Edition. Comic book appears virtually unread and near sharp. It has been signed, almost microscopically, on the front cover by creator and artist Mr. Ware. A very early creation by the celebrated Chris Ware and one he seems to wish would disappear! According to a website dedicated to Ware, gnus, "it has been reported (although I don't know the veracity of this) that Ware is actively seeking out copies, buying them, and destroying them. While it is understandable that he might be embarrassed by this (literally, I think) sophomoric work, it does show a young, promising, obviously talented artist doing his best, which is nothing to be ashamed of. " The comic book itself is fairly scarce and uncommon, and signed copies are hardly ever seen for sale. Shipping will include signature confirmation and insurance which will possibly add to the cost of mailing. Approximately 50 pages. Black and white interiors. Signed by Author(s).

From the author of Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid on Earth comes one of the most acclaimed graphic novels of all time: 14 distinctively discrete Books, Booklets, Magazines, Newspapers, and Pamphlets. One of the most important pieces of art I have ever experienced." The New Republic. With the increasing electronic incorporeality of existence, sometimes it's reassuringperhaps even necessaryto have something to hold on to. Thus within this colorful keepsake box the purchaser will find a fully-apportioned variety of reading material ready to address virtually any imaginable artistic or poetic taste, from the corrosive sarcasm of youth to the sickening earnestness of maturitywhile discovering a protagonist wondering if she'll ever move from the rented close quarters of lonely young adulthood to the mortgaged expanse of love and marriage. Whether you're feeling alone by yourself or alone with someone else, this book is sure to sympathize with the crushing sense of life wasted, opportunities missed and creative dreams dashed which afflict the middle- and upper-class literary public (and which can return to them in somewhat damaged form during REM sleep). A pictographic listing of all 14 items (260 pages total) appears on the back, with suggestions made as to appropriate places to set down, forget or completely lose any number of its contents within the walls of an average well-appointed home. As seen in the pages of The New Yorker, The New York Times and McSweeney's Quarterly Concern, Building Stories collects a decade's worth of work, with dozens of "never-before-published" pages (i.e., those deemed too obtuse, filthy or just plain incoherent to offer to a respectable periodical). Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Trade paperback comic book in stiff wrappers. Ware's first hard to find first book, almost impossible to find signed. This one is especially interesting because Ware has not only signed this copy, but inscribed it and added a small sketch in a related graphic style, suggesting that this signature may have been added close to the book's publication. Since Ware's more mature works adopt his (now) familiar style, an early signature such as this is unusual. All Ware drawings and sketches are difficult to find and highly collectible; ones in this early style are virtually impossible to find. Condition: probably Good or near VG: some bumping and surface wear to rear cover and to a couple corners. But when will you find a similar inscription, signature, and sketch? Inscribed by Author(s).
