About the book >.>.> The lack of diaries, correspondence and other source material was all too easily confirmed, although the rarity of the name itself is such that those Pingo references which were discovered have turned out to be wholly relevant, few though they are. What has emerged is a family of considerably greater significance than previously thought, as well as an entirely new perspective from which to consider medallists and medal making procedure in the eighteenth century. The degree itself, for which financial assistance was received from the South Square Trust, was completed in 1995, and it is to Graham Dyer and Christopher Challis that the work as it now stands owes much of its form and structure. The manuscript has also been read by Ted Buttrey, formerly Keeper of Coins at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Peter Barber, Map Librarian of the British Museum, Graham Nicol, editor and historian, and Philip Attwood, a curator in the Department of Coins and Medals at the British Museum and editor of The Medal.
