Hardcover. Condition: Good. First Edition. No dust jacket. Brown cloth boards are distressed, cloth is sunned and rippled, corners are worn round, text box on front is quite worn, barely readable, spine sunned and worn - text is clear. Endpapers are tanned and soiled, rear inside cover and endpapers are water damaged, no odor. Staining in various spots on the interior, pages 69-73 have a small burn. Tale of a black golf caddie was written in an African-American dialect "It seemlike to me dat some people is gitting mighty stuck up dese days. All orders packed with care, most dust jackets protected by Brodart sleeve, independent bookseller since 2011.

The protagonist Jedediah Friend has literally and truly traveled many miles since his birth in the 1860s Deep South to his current 1920's Caddie-Master job at a club in an unnamed Middle Atlantic state. Tales of his travels & surprises. This copy INSCRIBED in the half-title page to two named individuals HOPING YOU-ALL WILL TREAT US "SOUTHERNERS" KINDLY and further AUTOGRAPHED BY "UNCLE JED", "JOE CHRONICLES", AND "JOE CHAPMAN" dated 12/6/46. A beautiful bright, crisp copy, nice sharp cover corners without any internal staining, foxing or marks or any sort. Front endpaper appears to have been replaced, repaired slit along the spine of the frontis otherwise in fine condition. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Signed and Inscribed by Author. Privately Published.
