This rare Ukrainian adaptation of Hugh Lofting's "Doctor Dolittle", attributed to A. Chukovskyi?a pseudonym possibly used to avoid potential criticism within the Ukrainian diaspora for translating from Russian?offers a unique glimpse into post-WWII Ukrainian children's literature. Originally penned by the celebrated Russian children's poet Korney Ivanovich Chukovsky, this edition likely saw publication in Canada during the 1950s, with some sources suggesting [M. Ewanchuk] in [Winnipeg] as the publisher. Measuring 21 x 18 cm and featuring [12] pages of illustrations, the book's cover exhibits signs of wear, minor staining, and discoloration, with slight wear to the spine and corners. The illustrations remain intact and clear, free from tears or significant markings. As of August 2024, OCLC records locate only three copies in libraries: at Ohio State University, the University of Manitoba, and the University of Toronto.
