Franz Xaver Chwatal lebte von 1822 bis 1835 als Musiklehrer und Pianist in Merseburg und veröffentlichte erste Kompositionen; von 1835 bis zu seinem Tod wirkte er als Privatmusikerzieher in Magdeburg und betrieb seit Beginn der 1850er Jahre zusammen mit Christian Friedrich Ehrlich die Institute für gemeinschaftlichen Clavierunterricht". Seine Klavierschulen erfreuten sich im deutschsprachigen Raum großer Beliebtheit. Chwatal war ein erfolgreicher und gefragter Produzent von unterhaltsamer, zumeist technisch leichter und instruktiver Klaviermusik. Schon zu Lebzeiten sah er sich gelegentlich dem Vorwurf ausgesetzt, mit substanzloser musikalischer Massenware dem Geschmack des Publikums zu huldigen. Franz Xaver Chwatal lebte von 1822 bis 1835 als Musiklehrer und Pianist in Merseburg und veröffentlichte erste Kompositionen; von 1835 bis zu seinem Tod wirkte er als Privatmusikerzieher in Magdeburg und betrieb seit Beginn der 1850er Jahre zusammen mit Christian Friedrich Ehrlich die Institute für gemeinschaftlichen Clavierunterricht".
